Born in 1980 in Xi'an, China, Cao Xuanbin is a distinguished musician, celebrated as a gold-standard singer-songwriter and producer in the Mandopop industry. He entered the Affiliated High School of the Xi'an Conservatory of Music in 1992, majoring in Western percussion. To further the heritage of Eastern civilization and vividly interpret traditional Chinese music through a modern cultural lens, he has resided in Singapore, Canada, the United States, and Japan, conducting in-depth research on global and Mandopop music production. He has held the position of Music Director at several international record companies in the Mandopop industry. In 2018, he founded the Singapore Music Academy and serves as its院长. He currently holds positions as Cultural Counselor for the EU-Asia Center, International Music Expert for Poly Education, Cultural Ambassador for Xi'an Tourism, and Ambassador for the China-US Economic Forum. He has received multiple awards, including "Most Popular Creative Male Singer," "Song of the Year," "Best Singer-Songwriter of the Year," and "Classic Work of the Year," and is hailed by cultural circles and major media as a representative musician and singer-songwriter in Mandopop.
On his multifaceted artistic journey, Cao has collaborated with numerous renowned artists and actively participated in the promotion and creation of major Chinese cultural projects. In 2017, his phenomenon-level musical work, "Lament of a Departing Friend," was honored as the Annual Classic Work on CCTV's classic program "Everlasting Classics." He is a "Mandopop musician" whose work has been shared and praised by over 300 media outlets globally, including "Ziguang Pavilion," "Communist Youth League Central Committee," and "People's Daily." In the same year, he was invited by the renowned director Zhang Yimou to compose and perform the theme song for the large-scale poetry culture project "Return to the Three Gorges." In 2019, at the invitation of CCTV, he composed and performed "The Direction of the Heart," the theme song for "The Tide of Passion," a TV series presented as a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
